Godly Intervention
A few weeks ago the Lord directed my attention to Psalm 33 in my quiet time before work. Little did I realize at the time that Hewas giving me a specific promise of his goodness and faithfulness to me for that day.
I left for work around 07h15 and was driving down Field’s Hill in peak traffic when a tow truck speeding up the uphill section of Field’s Hill lost control and broke through the barrier. Along that section of the road the uphill carriageway is 2-3 metres higher than the downhill section. As I watched he came at me in the air almost as if in slow motion or in the playback of a movie crash scene. In reality I had only a moment to swerve slightly onto the shoulder before his vehicle dropped down onto the left side of the bonnet of my car. Miraculously by the hand of God no one was killed and seemingly no other vehicles involved in the crash. The driver of the towtruck was put into a neckbrace but I had a chance to pray for him before they took him off to casualty for a checkup and I’ve subsequently heard he’s ok.
Afterwards as I reflected on what had happened I worked out that the time difference between him landing on the bonnet of my car and the possibility of him taking out the section of the car where I was seated was in 100ths of a second. In that split second I felt as though God raised his hand between me and the towtruck and said you will not come any further, and you will not injure my son this day.
After the accident I returned home and went back to the scripture I had been reading earlier in the morning. There in Ps 33 v 18,19a was the Lord’s promise to me for that day:-
“ But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is on his unfailing love,
to deliver them from death…..”
Surely we serve an incredible, loving, caring and faithful God who is always aware of what’s happening in every moment of our day and is there for us no matter what the circumstances.
