Connection Centre

Welcome to the Connection Centre!

Connection Centre is a ministry of Hillside Church. Our vision is to bring every person in our community to a place of spiritual freedom, relational integrity and physical/emotional wholeness.

 This ministry is conducted on the Hillside property (39 Inanda Road, Hillcrest) by trained members of Hillside Church under the direction of the Hillside eldership. It is a free service and open to all. At present Connection Centre offers a prayer-based ministry called The Connect Process.  This is not counseling (but we are able to refer you to other counseling services in our area). The process is facilitated by team members who will pray with you, ask exploratory questions and assist you to find freedom and wholeness through an interactive encounter with God’s presence which brings revelation and healing.

On your first visit you will be given the opportunity to share your story and your reasons for seeking help. This will enable us to determine the kind of help that is most suitable for you now, and whether we are able to offer it to you at this time or need to refer you elsewhere.

The Connect Process:

• Involves a limited number of sessions of 1 hour duration each

• Is facilitated by two team members at a time

• Does not depend on you believing the same things as the team members

• Is free of charge. It is a ministry not a therapeutic service. 

Much of the process deals with memories of the past because our present situation is often not the real cause of our emotional pain or problem behaviors. These may have their origins in painful past experiences, which cause us to believe things about ourselves, God and others that are not in accordance with reality. These misconceptions lead us to feel and act in negative ways in the present. God’s revelation reinterprets those experiences and changes our thinking and feelings about them which creates an opportunity for lasting change and wholeness in the present.

Some people may experience increased emotional discomfort during and between sessions as memories are explored and the sources of pain are uncovered, but we expect this discomfort  to resolve as these are processed. 

You may also encounter God’s presence bringing emotional release; spiritual insight; hope and direction for the future; wisdom in dealing with present situations and relationships; freedom from negative forces and spiritual oppression in your life.  

The Connection team members:

• Are not professionally qualified but are competent in facilitating the Connect Process

• Will respect your freedom to choose to participate in the process or not

• Will avoid advising you or making decisions for you

• Will aim to refer you to other sources of help if this is necessary 

We encourage you to be an active part of a supportive community and to have a trusted person you can share this journey with and be accountable to e.g. Pastor, counselor.
